August 17th mark 6 years since my son Aaron Shoulders was
swarmed and brutally attacked, beaten and stabbed by 12 Asian
gang members in front of Nyla nightclub. Aaron was an innocent
bystander and died a torturous death on September 1, 2003.
The case still remains unsolved and the killer(s) are still
free, and to date still NO witnesses have come forward. Murdered
6 years ago – NO arrests made – NO Justice served
– The Violence continues!
"He who does not punish evil, commands it
to be done!"
We are uniting and making a stand for Justice and are the
voices of those who are no longer here to speak!
“He who stands for nothing… falls for everything!”
The Walk is:
- An
awareness walk in honor of our Murdered Loved Ones
- An
outcry against lenient sentencing and lack of Justice in
our Country
- A
protest against the escalating violence; especially against
our youth
- A
platform to give a voice to families of Murder Victims
Why
we walk
- Calgary's
murder rate has more than tripled since 2003!
- Calgary
has 88 unsolved murder cases!
- Gang
violence is on the rise! Gang members continue to get away
with murder!
- Violent
criminals have no deterrence!
- Short
and lenient sentences for murderers means they are free
to re-offend!
- Nationally,
more homicides are committed by knife vs. guns! - Stats
Canada -
- Lastly...
something has to change!
Upon reaching
the Court House we will have the reading of victims names,
dates, outcome of case and sentencing, followed by a special
song (written) by Aaron's sister, and a moment of silence
for all victims. On return to the former Nyla nightclub we
will launch balloons for our victims.
Our 4th
Annual AARON SHOULDERS WALK FOR JUSTICE FOR MURDER
VICTIMS INTERNATIONAL, held on September 5th in Calgary
was the most powerful of all previous years. The turnout,
support and response was awesome and the weather was perfect.
As we walked through down town we had much more positive response
from the bi standers as they were in agreement with our protest.
Nine Families
and friends walked for a LOVED ONE who was brutally murdered.
We had about 100-120 people in total.
Our Calgary
Police did a fantastic job leading us to the Court Centre
and back... THANK YOU! The 'Guardian Angels' joined us once
again to show their support as well... THANK YOU!
Calgary
Currie MLA Dave Taylor was represented by his Assistant for
the first time and showed his support... THANK YOU!
We had
excellent Media coverage... THANK YOU to all the NEWS media
for doing an awesome job in covering this important event!
A BIG
THANK YOU to all the Families and Friends that walked with
us, I understand it is a very painful, difficult and emotional
day for us, therefore I appreciate your participation and
support. A very special THANK YOU to my daughter Chicoma &
Johnny for writing & performing the song "A
Picture Of You" it was truly amazing!
